Cloud Services
The Power of Cloud – The new normal
Why Cloud computing is the way ahead?
- The cloud knows how to do the task.
- The cloud is the starting point for a thousand apps
- Prepare, set, and compute!
- For your databases, the sky is the limit.
- Make your IT life easier.
Three Major Domains of Cloud computing services:
1. Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)
The most basic domain of cloud computing services is Infrastructure-as-a-service(IaaS). Infrastructure-as-a-Service, or IaaS for short, is when a cloud computing vendor hosts the infrastructure on behalf of their customers. The vendor hosts the infrastructure in “the cloud” – in other words, in various data centers. Their customers access this cloud infrastructure over the Internet. They can use it to build and host web applications, store data, run business logic, or do anything else that could be done on traditional on-premise infrastructure, but often with more flexibility.
2. Software as a Service (SaaS)
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) is a method for delivering software applications over the Internet, on demand and typically on a subscription basis. SaaS is also known as “On-Demand Software“. It is a software distribution model in which services are hosted by a cloud service provider. These services are available to end-users over the internet so, the end-users do not need to install any software on their devices to access these services.
There are the following services provided by SaaS providers –
- Business Services - SaaS Provider provides various business services to start-up the business. The SaaS business services include ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), CRM (Customer Relationship Management), billing, and sales. Today ERP giants like SAP, Oracle has also come up with their own SaaS model
- Document Management - SaaS document management is a software application offered by a third party (SaaS providers) to create, manage, and track electronic documents.
- Social Networks - As we all know, social networking sites are used by the general public, so social networking service providers use SaaS for their convenience and handle the general public’s information.
- Mail Services - To handle the unpredictable number of users and load on e-mail services, many e-mail providers offering their services using SaaS.
3. Platform as a Service (PaaS)
Platform-as-a-service (PaaS) refers to cloud computing services that supply an on-demand environment for developing, testing, delivering and managing software applications. PaaS is designed to make it easier for developers to quickly create web or mobile apps, without worrying about setting up or managing the underlying infrastructures like servers, storage, network and databases.
The key benefit of the PaaS model is that it enables users to access hardware and software that can be used to develop and run applications without having to purchase, install and maintain the infrastructure.
